Anti Coagulant - EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid)

Mode of Action - Formation of Calcium Salt and removal of calcium.

Use -

- Specially used for whole blood sample being sent to transfusion Lab. - Cross match
- Blood grouping
- Direct coomb's test.

Note : Mix well with EDTA by inverting tube atleast 8 times.

Anti Coagulant - Potassium Oxalate

Other agent Contain - Sodium Fluoride

Mode of Action - Sodium fluoride acts as the glycolytic inhibitor and prevents the cell in the blood from utilizing the glucose.

Use :-

 - FBS test
 - GTT test
 - Lactate test

Anti Coagulant - Sodium Citrate

Mode of Action -
Formation of Calcium salt an removal of calcium.

Use - ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) test

Ratio of sample and Anti Coagulant is 1:4 in this black top tube.

It is clot activator tube.

Anti coagulant - No ( Absent)

Mode of Action -
Blood clots and serum separated by centrifugation.

Use -
Chemistry,blood bank (cross match,Immunology,serology.

Note : Do not centrifuge soon after sample collection that means centrifuge after atleast 30 minutes of sample collection.
